Insulating clamps for power transistors
Electrically insulated installation of transistor cases can be safely and simply achieved using insulating clamps. Fischer Elektronik offer clamps for type TO218, TO220 and TO 247 transistors. A pin in the plastic insulating clamp locates in the drilling of the transistor case, or a clamping bar on the insulating clamp positions the component so that it is firmly pressed onto the mounting plate when being fastened. The high pressure applied to the transistor case by the clamp ensures a good thermal connection to the mounting plate. The insulating clamp is fixed to the surface upon which it is installed by means of a screw which has no conductive contact with the transistor. No insulating bush is required. The dielectric strength is solely determined by the insulating washer between the transistor and the installation surface. The insulating clamp is made from GFR polycarbonate.
